The Apple Hand pies will be the last in the apple series for now because I know of a certainty that there is so much more that can be done with apples.
I already have a video for Apple Crumble and you can watch that here.
Now Nigerians are familiar with hand pies, in fact that is what we know as a pie. In the West though, a pie is a pastry that is filled with sweet or savory ingredients and bake in a dish, you will hear of things like pumpkin pie, cherry pie, mince pie, apple pie etc there are other savory variations of pies, example a pot pie. These pie crust are typically a very buttery flaky crust called a puff pastry or butter crust.
Hand pies are a derivative of these larger pies made into smaller hand held versions, hence the title 'hand'. Still these hand pies are what we call pies here in Nigeria without the 'Hand' because that's the only kind of pie we recognize locally anyway. So we have meat pie, chicken pie, fish pie. Sweet pies are not recognized locally but are certainly available in the high end restaurants or the dessert shops.
