NAMASTE!
My wandering taste buds took me all the way to South East Asia. I intended to make an Indian Daal i.e. Lentil Curry, but some how I grabbed split peas instead of lentils at the store.
Split peas have a tremendous health benefits. (Click split peas to read more) This recipe is really easy and affordable.

- Turmeric powder-1tsp
- Dried red chilies

- Coriander leaves
- Onion
- Garlic
- Tomatoes pureed- 1/4 cup

- Salt and pepper
Step 1- Rinse and boil the split peas, allow water level to be the same as the split peas and add as required. Cook uncovered until peas are just softened.
Step 2- In a pan heat up vegetable oil, add mustard seeds and let the seeds pop for 30 seconds in the hot oil.
Step 3- Add turmeric and cumin to the oil allow for 30 seconds, add onion, garlic, dried red chilies and fresh green chilies.
Step 4- Add the seasoned oil to the cooked peas, add tomato sauce and cover to cook on medium heat for 5 minutes.

Enjoy by itself, over steamed rice or with a naan, like I did. See next post for Naan recipe.
