Christmas is definitely my favorite time of year, it’s truly and indeed the season to be jolly.
Everyone is relaxed and in the mood to have a good time. I’m excited for Carol services and all the different events that would be holding in Lagos city. I hope I can plan to attend some concerts and shows although sincerely just the thought of the rowdiness and the general stress involved is not inspiring me at all, we’ll see how things go.
In Senior Secondary School, I attended an Anglican owned school and we used to have a very elaborate Carol service, as a member of the school choir we started our practice from weeks before and it was a big deal. Our Sister and brother Anglican schools usually join us at a central location for an All schools Carol service, it somehow usually became a silent competition as we all tried to impress with our singing. It was an only girls schools, the joint Carol service was also an opportunity for us girls to do small shakara since we knew we were going to see the boys. Lol
I still enjoy a lot of Carols and Christmas songs generally, here are a few of my favorites
In a bleak Mid-winter by Christina Rossetti, this Carol is my absolute favorite ever, the rendition by the Boys of Kings College Cambridge is just beautiful. The first time I came across this song was when we sang it at one of our Carol services, the lyrics are beautifully captivating, it conveys the message of Christmas. My other favorites include;
O come O come Emmanuel
Mary did you know by Michael English
Oh little town of Bethlehem
Lyrics are everything for me with music, once I’m captured by the lyrics I’m in and that’s it, some other Christmas songs I enjoy and listening to all year round include:
Michael Buble’s It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and I’ll be home for Christmas. Michael Buble's sound is like no other, I love most of his songs, the style and genre of music is just soothing and amazing.
Another favorite of mine is This Christmas by Chris Brown, a true Classic we all loved from the movie.
I hope you enjoy my favorite Christmas Songs and share what yours are.
Peace!
